Locked Account

Modified on Tue, 09 Jan 2024 at 12:11 PM

The storefront will lock a user’s account after 3 failed login attempts. After 30 minutes, the account will unlock, giving the user three additional tries to log into their account.

If the user does not want to wait for the account to be unlocked, they have the option to select the ‘Forgot your Password’ feature on the signin / account page or the store administrator can unlock the account from within /aesys.

Using the ‘Forgot your Password’ feature

When the forgot your password request is made on the signin / account page, the storefront will email the user a temporary password. This temporary password will allow the user to log in but force them to change the password. After the first log in, they will be asked for their “old” password (this is the temporary password) and then asked to create a new password.

Note: The ‘Forgot your Password’ feature will only be enabled if the E-mail Setup has been configurated and tested within /aesys. It is also recommended that the user not copy and paste the password from the email notification they receive. Copy/paste can cause a ‘blank’ space in the password field which will result in a failed login.

Store Administrator manually unlock account

  1. In /aesys, go to Contacts > Manage Contacts
  2. Input the user’s email address into the filters field, hit enter and then click on the user’s name once it has populated.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and under “Tools” uncheck the box next to Account Locked and save your changes.

If the user does not remember their password and has requested a reset, you can also manually reset their password to be something specific or choose to send them a random password. It’s recommended that you choose one or the other, not both. The storefront will send the password reset to the user as long as E-mail Setup has been configurated and tested within /aesys.
